I caught up with Louis from Kendall Street Company to talk life on the road, 2:00 AM snack runs, and the songs that keep the van moving. Check out the mini-interview below!
Q: You’re at a 7-Eleven at 2:00 AM on tour—what is the "road snack and song" combo currently keeping the van from descending into full on cabin fever mode?
"Alfonso Muskedunder by Todd Terje is soo good. The full album fires me up and keeps me moving. It’s album time. Except for that one song—you’ll know it when you hear it. As for a snack, probably pretzel sticks
or salt and vin chips—excellent driving munchy! Another great driving record is Rodrigo y Gabriela's eponymous album. Been listening to it since I was a kid and it always slaps."
Q: After a high-energy show, what’s the first song you put on in the van to keep your brain from vibrating while you decompress? Or do you not listen to anything?
"I like a podcast after a show. Gives the ears a chance to rest a bit. I like Marc Maron or Conan.
"
Q: What’s a song you loved as a kid that you still know every single lyric to?
"Well, funny enough, we just released a cover of 'Short Skirt/Long Jacket' by CAKE, and that is one we would blast in the car on family road trips. I remember my brother and I sang it as a duet at karaoke when we were lil kids—maybe 6 years old? I hope a video exists, but it may have been too long ago!
"
Q: What do you think the best song is for staring out a rainy tour bus window while pretending you’re in a very expensive, very sad music video?
"Holocene by Bon Iver. Hands down.
. No doubt!!!!"
